Eyes for Lies (aka Renee) is a
professional deception and credibility expert. She assists law
enforcement on homicides and other cases involving deception, and teaches
law enforcement (at the federal, state and local level) as well as
other professionals how to spot reliable clues to deception in her training course.
She also works with other professionals to spot deception outside of law
enforcement.
Eyes for Lies classes have been hosted by
law enforcement agencies in the
biggest cities in the U.S. from Chicago to New York City to Los Angeles
and Washington, D.C. with classes ranging from 20 to 300.
She has also spoken to audiences as large
as 500 people.
How does she spot lies?
Eyes for Lies looks for behavioral
evidence. When people are under high stress situations and they are
deceptive, subconscious clues leak out that tell the real story. Eyes for
Lies coined this "behavioral evidence".
"They [wizards]
seem to have templates of people that they use to make sense of the
behavioral deviations they observe." says [Dr. Maureen] O'Sullivan. So
it is not a set of disembodied cues, but embedded behaviors that are
consistent with each other as well as with the kind of person exhibiting
them (source)."
"We've talked to 15,000
people in every walk of life and we have found
50
who have this really nearly perfect ability to spot liars, and
that's without any specialized training.
We're still trying to find out how in the world did they learn
this skill?
Are they the sort of Mozart's of lie detection; they just had it?"
"Our wizards
are extraordinarily attuned to detecting the nuances of facial
expressions, body language and ways of talking and thinking. Some of
them can observe a videotape for a few
seconds and amazingly they can describe eight details about the person
on the tape," says
Dr. Maureen O'Sullivan of the University of San Francisco (source).
Eyes
for Lies is NOT psychic
There is nothing magical or mysterious
about how Eyes for Lies does this.
Scientists have studied her and this ability, and realize there are
concrete clues to deception. The mystery is why don't most people see
these clues?
