contempt plus anger? although the forehead and region between the eyebrows isn’t as furrowed as I would expect from powerful anger.

I would say he is grimacing. As to the emotions behind this grimacing…disgust and/or dissaproval (anger)

This almost make me laugh. To me, this ANGER and total DISGUST. THIS would be my expression when I think of my brother who, basically, treated my mom like cr*p before she died. Yep, needless to say, I haven’t spoken to him about 6 years. STILL… even now, I want to STRANGLE him! I’m Irish, am a female, don’t quite look like the guy in the picture…BUT… Ugh! LOL!!!!

LOL. I like this expression too! I see no hint of hatred or anger…simply someone trying to portray an ‘image’ of anger. The ‘darkness’ of the image…upturned lip…narrowing of the eye…pinching of the brows…all contrived. I can almost hear him saying: “quick, take the photo”, through his gritted teeth 😉 Interestingly, the same facial expressions can also be indicative of constipation (can I say that?). A key indicator is what’s missing…emotion.

I do believe this was a camera face, but I also believe this man was feeling some emotion because he very clearly does a blend expression here of contempt and disgust. It’s not anger.
