Thoughts of a Homicide Investigator...

Several years ago, I met "Eyes for Lies" after she profiled one of my homicide cases. At that time, the case had not been to court so I was not able to give many details here.

That changed when David Hawk was found guilty of killing his ex-wife, Debbie Hawk, for financial gain. In California, that mandates a life without parole sentence. Dave is now a resident of the state corrections system.

I would again like to say what a direct hit "Eyes" had for the facts in this case. Her only source of information at that time was an interview she saw of Dave Hawk on Dateline NBC regarding Debbie's disappearance. Debbie's body has never been found.

I feel that someone with this natural gift is far better than anyone who has training.

I've been in Law Enforcement for almost 30 years and would love to have met "Eyes" when I was rookie. Her talent and ability to explain the minute details she spots in deceptive people would have allowed me to put more bad guys in jail.

If Eyes for Lies tells you someone is being deceptive, believe her!

Thanks again for all your help.

With great respect,
Daren Matteson

I am a retired US Customs Supervisor who still teaches detecting deception and behavioral analysis to CBP (Customs Border Protection) Officers and enjoy (love) your website. Your forensic approach to behavior provides an abundance of worthwhile clues to deception and lies in disguise. Your sensitivity to emotional changes real or fake are amazing! - Larry Swanson,

"Eyes" detailed analysis [of the Toyota driver] was concise and extremely accurate that's why we all eagerly await each and every case diagnosis so we can learn of all the aspects of deception and body language analysis that we didn't think of! --- Larry Swanson

I'm utterly convinced thanks to this analysis. I'm new to this subject and this blog, but I cannot get enough of it.  It's like suddenly being able to see that the emperor has no clothes . . . what a powerful tool for gaining insight into just about anyone. Thank you!  - St. Vincent

Congratulations, Eyes. It looks like you pegged this man [Dave Hawk] correctly some time ago, when an FBI expert thought he was probably telling the truth.

"I worked with Melanie (McGuire) every day for 6 years and knew her pretty well, and your take on her personality and ability to manipulate people is right on.

I was amazed when I read your comments and opinions on the interview, you really are one hundred percent right in everything you said. She was never an honest person, and never someone I would trust. She manipulates and lies to get her way and there is no doubt in my mind that she is guilty."

Eyes - I have read the write ups from a variety of "behavioral experts" on the Tiger Woods topic and I have to say that you hit the nail on the head... I am a FACS coder by trade and have been working on emotion recognition projects for the past 7 years. Your analysis on people is great and it is refreshing to read the perspective of a wizard.

"I found your site when looking for real life lie detectors mostly due to the show Lie to Me...

However, that show doesn't hold a candle to your website - as I just told my husband, it's endlessly fascinating... I can't imagine having your ability and the way you write about the ups and downs really connects with me and I think with humanity in general. Thanks for being so honest on your site - I can't wait to see what you have to say next."
  Sincerely, Becky in MA
