Joran Talks

Pauw & Witteman Show, The Netherlands

Reporter: What did you say?

Joran: Well, you’ll find out Sunday. But it’s easy to prove that it’s nonsense. This is all a lot of fuzz about nothing. And that’s a shame for Natalee’s mother, really, who came all the way to the Netherlands.

Read moreReporter: The Dutch evening news tells us you had sex with Natalee after which she lost consciousness and died. You decided to call a friend to take her body in a boat. Then, on open sea, you dumped it.

Joran: Yes, that’s what I told the guy. I told him what he wanted to hear.

Reporter: But isn’t it incredibly stupid to tell a lie like that?

Joran: It’s is so dumb. So dumb. Really dumb. The worst thing that I’ve only just met the guy who I said assisted me.

Reporter: How are you gonna prove this story is a lie?

Joran: I don’t know. Do you think it’s possible for this guy to not talk about this for 2.5 years? I think it is gonna make for really good television coming Sunday, but it’s a shame that a lot of feelings will probably be hurt as well.

Reporter: Why on earth should we believe you?

Joran: That’s a good question. No reason whatsoever.

Clearly, if Joran had good evidence to support this is a lie, wouldn’t he want to ruin de Vries big TV show on Sunday night? Wouldn’t he be all over the networks talking about his evidence? After all this is a man that Joran had great distaste for, so much so he tossed wine into the guy’s face when cameras were rolling just two weeks ago. If he could spoil his big show, why isn’t he??

He speaks in contradiction to himself when he first says “But it’s easy to prove that it’s nonsense.” A minute later when asked how he is going to prove it is a lie, he says “I don’t know”.

And if it is a hoax as Joran wants us to believe, that he simply said what everyone wanted to hear, then why would he say it was “so dumb, so dumb, really dumb”?

I hear nerves in Joran’s voice here. He is very nervous, and rightfully should be.
