Status of Things: Off Topic

I haven’t been active with my blog for the last week because my dog (who has been sick with liver issues) came down with something really nasty. The vet called it old dog vestibular syndrome.

It’s when the dog’s central balance system goes out of whack. Their eyes dart in a rhythmic movement left-to-right and back — for days– before it resolves. They are unable to stand up, focus, walk, eat or drink. They tilt their head endlessly trying to find stable ground to no avail.

Read moreIt’s horrific to say the least, but it does resolve, and dogs (as well as cats) can go on to live perfectly normal lives after recovery of several days. The cause is usually idiopathic –meaning they don’t know why dogs or cats get this.

But today, however, in my exhaustion as my dog is walking, eating and drinking again with only a mild balance issue after four days of hell, I see a medication she was on for her liver issues could have caused this as well. No one told me!

Now I am mortified. Did I cause this? Is their a safer medication I can put her on?

Needless to say my mind is not on deception detection now, but hopefully as things resolve, I will be back!
