John McAfee on Dateline
Did you catch Dateline this past weekend? They aired the full story of John McAfee and it was absolutely fascinating. I think for a lot of people John McAfee is a hard read, though his behavior of disappearing after a murder is highly suspicious to anyone.
John is someone I would characterize as genius–bordering on crazy-genius, if you know what I mean. He is super intelligent to the point you wonder if his intelligence will cause him to go over the edge. He comes mighty close without question.
When John tells Dateline that he didn’t up and leave because he thought Gregory Faull killed his dogs, but because he thought the government did and that they were out to get him, I didn’t buy it for an instant.
John lacked the conviction in his words and his responses back to Dateline–when he was told Greg Faull said he was going to kill McAfee’s dogs–were squarely out of line for someone who is truly uninvolved. His responses raised huge red flags to me.
I don’t doubt for an instant that John was paranoid about the Belize government–not for a second, but it wasn’t what culminated on this night. I suspect John is clever enough to mix partial truths with lies to be better believed. It’s just my two cents.
Why do I think John may have been paranoid with the government? Pure and simple: MDPV (otherwise known as bath salts). John posted on the web, according to Dateline, about this drug and interestingly, Dateline said that John was investigated for a meth lab by the Belize government. I don’t suspect he had a meth lab. I suspect he had an MDPV lab, and this lab, which was not illegal in Belize, may have caused problems between him and government. I suspect John became a nuisance and was not highly regarded like he once was with government officials.
Of course, John says his conversations on Bluelight message board about MDPV were just a joke–another element that John story that I am not buying.
I suspect John experimented with MDPV and suffered from serious paranoia during the times he experimented with it (which WIRED magazine talked about), and he combines the truth of one story and implicates it in another.
What John did to get out of Belize and into the U.S. shows this man is quick on his feet–so quick that if you don’t watch him, he’ll vanish. He’ll be one step ahead of most of us and he knows it.
I think Greg Faull was one awful human being to do what he did to John’s dogs. It seems both men took the law into their own hands, its just one paid a much higher price than the other.
