Body Language of Prime Minister Cameron

David Cameron & Nick Clegg Hold Their First Joint News Conference

A UK reader emailed me yesterday with an interesting request that I thought you would enjoy. She ask that I look at the Prime Minister David Cameron and Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg and analyze their body language as they speak about working together and put aside party differences.

When you watch their body language, are they sincere or not?

You can view the video here from BBC.

What do you see conveyed by their body language?

Thanks, S, for the story lead!

The Tells of Body Language

Grandmother with granddaughter

I was out the other day visiting a friend when I passed by a grandmother playing nearby with her grandchild. They were sitting very close. Grandma had her arm around the little girl and was intently focused on her granddaughter’s interest. I hadn’t noticed anything when I walked by them, but later as I sat and reflected upon what I saw, I said to my friend who knows the grandmother, “That grandmother isn’t very close to her granddaughter . Did you notice she treated her like a China doll? Her body language was very stiff. A grandmother who is close to her grandchildren would treat them like her own children. There would be no tension. There would be no China doll treatment. Did you notice?

My friend laughed and said, “That’s interesting because the granddaughter isn’t her daughter‘s child. It’s her son’s child, and you know, the in-laws just never feel as comfortable as they do with their own children’s children. You made an interesting observation.”

The daughter-in-law, the mother of the granddaughter, happened to be a few steps away, unbeknown to me.

It’s amazing what you can surmise about people by just watching them interact.

Chelsea King’s Parents; A Study of Honesty

Chelsea King’s Parents are fascinating to watch in this interview. I took a clip out of the interview that I found intriguing and I have it for you below. Watch when Chelsea’s mom says at the very end that she [Chelsea] was the whole package. What do you see? What does it mean to you?

I will share my thoughts in the comment section in the coming days… Don’t forget to check back!

Here is an interesting article on it.

What do you think about BDOs?

Businessman being frisked at a security checkpoint

I think the concept is great, but I believe similar to what Dr. Ekman said –that training is essential and I, more than that, personally, don’t think basic training will cut it. We need to screen people for this job who have above average ability to understand human behavior (I’m not saying Truth Wizard), and help them improve their abilities before we ever put them on the job. Just hiring anyone to do this job, in my opinion, is useless. But I think the idea has great future rewards if we refine it appropriately.

Excellent Article on Preventing Rape

Businesswoman Rejecting Advance

I saw this excellent article the other day from Susan Murphy Milano, who is a domestic violence expert, called Preventing a Rape: Yours! and found it fascinating.

Does your body language or actions say you are distracted?

When you see someone threatening, do you let them know you see them?

Did you know public restrooms were not a place to let your guard down?

What you do and how you behave can directly affect your safety, though you may never even know it!

I think this article is a must read for all women. Pass it on!!
