Ronald Cummings Sentenced on Drug Charges

Ronald Cummings was sentenced today on drug charges. He was given a 15 year sentence and $250,000 in fines. Ronald Cumming’s daughter, Haleigh, disappeared in February from the trailer that he lived in with his then live-in girlfriend, Misty Croslin. Misty Croslin has also been arrested on drug charges and could be sentenced to six and 240 years.

I reviewed Ronald and Misty within days of Haleigh going missing in 2009, and I found both of their stories odd and fishy. I believe both know a lot more than they have said about Haleigh. I have written extensively on these two, so click on the labels below to see all of my thoughts.

I will never forget Ronald when he said within days of Haleigh’s disappearance, “I’d give my life for my child’s life back.” To me that is a strong indication he knew at that point she was already dead.

I wonder if we will ever learn what happened to Haleigh.

Thanks, Karon, for following the story and keeping us updated with links! You are a tremendous help with this blog. Thank you, truly!

Sarah Shourd: A spy?

I have been asked if I believe Sarah Shourd when she says she is not a spy. I do. I do not believe she was a spy or involved in espionage. I would think a spy would have much better information and would not “accidentally” wander over to the country border they are spying on, don’t you? It seems far-fetched.

Sarah also doesn’t hit me as the type who would enjoy that type of work either. Her character is one who likes to live by the book, to follow rules and live within the expectations of society. Spies are quite the opposite, generally speaking.

Ingrid Betancourt

Former FARC hostage, French-Colombian Ingrid Betancourt smiles during a news conference amid a ceremony for the two-year anniversary of Operation Jaque , a Colombian military operation that freed 15 hostages including Betancourt, at a military school in Bogota July 2, 2010. I watched Ingrid Betancourt on Oprah this week. She was running for the President of Columbia in 2002 when she went into an unsafe area controlled by leftist guerrillas against the advice of her security experts, and she was kidnapped and kept in a Colombian jungle for six years as a hostage. She is now doing a media tour to kick off the release of her book, “Even Silence Has an End.”

While she went through an absolutely horrific ordeal that no one should ever have to endure, I was troubled by what the other hostages and her campaign running mate said about Betancourt. Clara Rojas, Betancourt’s vice presidential running mate and campaign manager, said that Betancourt’s book is full of “lies and spite”.

In watching Betancourt’s demeanor on Oprah and hearing her at one point say something to the effect she believed it was her right, and then abruptly stopping as she said it…clearly self-censoring herself, I tend to believe the people who have spoken out against Betancourt.

Furthermore, Betancourt’s own husband has filed divorce citing infidelity and ungratefulness. Clearly, no one stands in support of Betancourt and with that, I am surprised Oprah gave her an hour show.

From Deutsche Welle, Betancourt’s own words are quite telling:

I wasn’t sensitive enough to understand their despair,” she writes of the other hostages who did not have her celebrity status. “I saw myself as a symbol that could be useful for all of us. I did not understand that everyone needs to have a face.

Betancourt comes across as very selfish, self-centered and arrogant. You know what I say about arrogant people… I certainly don’t care to read her book.

Theresa Parker’s Body Discovered and ID’d

travel11/021302 -- Sleeters Lake, Loudoun County, Virginia.

Theresa Parker disappeared in March of 2007 in the midst of a divorce from her husband, Sam, who was a LaFayette, Ga., police officer.

Yesterday police announced a farmer discovered her remains Monday 100 feet from the Chattooga River. While investigators do not know the cause of the death yet they have positively identified the remains are Theresa and the family is relieved that she has been found.

I wrote about Sam Parker on December 1, 2007 before he was arrested. Sam was arrested on February 4, 2008, and he was convicted of murdering his wife September 3, 2009. He was sentenced to life in prison plus five years.

Pawn Stars

My husband loves watching unique shows like American Choppers, and now, Pawn Stars. He loves the tumultuous relationships between the men. I can cope with watching it because I get to see human beings interact. I love human behavior.

Who knew?

With pawn stars, my favorite thing to do is guess what Rick will buy the piece for, and what others do in the negotiations–before they do it. I love reading their facial expressions and body language and making predictions on who will pay what. I love to call it before it plays out. My husband gets a kick out of it, too.

If you ever need a negotiator…

I think I love negotiating as much detecting deception. That would be my dream job– a job that incorporated both. Yes, I secretly fantasize about negotiating deals for Donald Trump LOL just because he would have some great deals to negotiate!
