Chris Brown’s Mixed Messages

I think one thing is clear about Chris Brown’s “apology”: He is sending mixed messages. Brown starts out by saying, “I want to express my deepest regret and accept full responsibility.” He continues a few seconds later by saying, “I felt it was important that you heard directly from me that I am sorry.”

Chris Brown out and about in Beverly Hills, Ca

Read moreWhen he speaks during the scripted video, his facial expressions seem to support and emphasize what he is saying, which is indicative he is sorry. I’ve seen many scripted videos where people can’t pull off what they are saying regardless of a rehearsed script, but here Chris does. However, I am left with one big question. Who is Chris Brown apologizing to, and why?

To me, it seems like he is apologizing to us, his fans, but not to Rihanna, the woman he plead guilty to assaulting, only after he was given a plea deal. Brown says in the interview, “I’ve told Rihanna countless times and I am telling you that I am sorry.” The way Brown emphasizes the word “told” indicates he is frustrated that he hasn’t been forgiven by either Rihanna or the public (to which I don’t know). Frustration over not being forgiven is not a good sign.

Nowhere in the video does Brown address Rihanna publicly, which really makes his apology fall short, in my opinion. He may be genuinely sorry he kicked his career to the gutter because of his hot temper, but does this mean he really is sorry to the person he assaulted?

I personally don’t think so, or he would have addressed Rihanna herself.

ABC: Dating In the Dark

Have you seen the new show on ABC this summer called Dating In the Dark? It’s a must see for all of you people who love reading people! You get lots of opportunities to test your abilities.

Three men and three women are put in a dark room together and are then setup on “blind dates” with one of the participants who is supposed to be their ultimate match, though they have opportunities to pick another partner from the group, if they choose.

Read moreIt’s fascinating because they don’t ever get to see each other, but you can see them through the use of an infrared camera. When the lights are out, it becomes clear people are much more genuine–I suspect because of the sense of vulnerability they share being blinded. They are much more expressive and less inhibited, and their body language is entirely different at times!

Plus, at the end of the show, while the couples are still in the darkroom, each person is revealed to the other via a spotlight. What this does is put one person on display while still hiding the other. With that, you can get to see each person react to the other in a genuine way, because they are still hidden in the dark as they get to see their partner visually for the first time. You can then see if you can read their body language and facial expressions! It’s LOTS of fun!

I’ll be tuning in again. Will you?

Chris Brown

Do you think this is a sincere apology?

Joe Jackson on Larry King Live

2009 BET Awards - Press Room

Joe Jackson was on Larry King Live last night saying that he never abused Michael. Did you see it?

When Larry King asks Joe about whether or not he was abusive to Michael, Joe answers, “I never been abusive to him”. You need to take a closer look at the words being spoken here. Joe Jackson clearly skirts the issues by playing with words, if you want my opinion.

Notice how convoluted Joe’s answer is? He talks about slavery and torture, and then ends up saying a lot of people spank their kids and don’t admit it. Why doesn’t he answer the questions directly? Then Joe ends his somewhat non-nonsensical answer by saying he’s “never beaten at all”. I think the key word here is “beaten”. It’s all semantics, if you want my opinion.

A man who abused his children and who is denial about it is likely to diminish his actions, and I believe that is what Joe Jackson is doing here. Notice how he doesn’t deny “spanking” Michael? And how he justifies everyone else must be doing it?

When I’ve seen Michael Jackson talk of how afraid he was of his father, I absolutely believed him.

Poll: Discovery ID

I was wondering how many people have access to the paid cable channel “Discovery ID”? It’s not Discovery, like on the basic cable channel, it’s a tier up in subscriptions (usually). The channel is mainly about crime and criminals from what I can see.

If you are unsure, here is their YouTube Channel, which has previews to their shows.

If you have it, do you think it would be a good source of material for this blog?
