I have always grappled with it, wondering if we truly do. I tend to agree with Dr. Eagleman, it’s probably much less than we realize.
I have always believed that my ability of processing information about people happens in the background a lot more than I realize, and I’ve worked hard to become consciously aware of many elements of it.
