Diane Downs on 20/20: Are you a good detective?

The story of Diane Downs was profiled on 20/20 this past weekend. I have to admit I am only half-way through the show as it was two hours long. But there was a shocking moment in the first half (guessing approximately where I stopped) that I saw that blew my mind! Did you catch it?

It’s one of those moments that if you have attended my class, I show you examples of–where the human mind hears one thing, but switches it to another because they cannot reconcile the truth as being that obvious. I think it is a protective measure at some level 99% of people do this! It’s the weirdest phenomenon I have encounter teaching people about deception.

Basically, a person can say a very TRUE statement that leaks the truth in a huge way –that is SO PROFOUND–it should stop people dead in their tracks.

But what happens in these situations is that people’s subconscious mind can’t reconcile what was actually said–was said. And so the mind distorts it. The listener actually subconsciously changes the words the person who is telling the truth said to make it benign!!!!!!!

When liars admit their deeds openly in an unexpected reveal, people will literally hear something different! It happened in the black widow case in Texas. And now its happening again.

Diane Downs said something very profound. On the show, we don’t see her say it, but we see someone else who interacted with her repeat her words. I trust this person is telling us 100% the truth.

I wrote those words down because they were MIND BOGGLING. And I searched Google today to get the clip. When I typed in the words, guess what?

They were completely modified on 6 different websites quoting the story!! Including ABC news! And yet when I listen to the actual statement said, it is completely different. This is what happened with the black widow killer too. The news journalists literally change the words, as well as others who write about the story! Because its that surreal.

Do you know what I am talking about? How good of a detective are you? Did you catch it??

Check back later this week for the answer!

Note: I do not know if the clip above contains the segment I am talking about. And I am guessing I was half-way through. I may have been a few minutes more past the half-way point–just so I don’t mislead anyone when I quit watching because I was tired.

Very Disturbing Photo of Shannon

PROVO, UT - MAY 28: Utah Valley Regional Medical Center is shown where actor Gary Coleman died May 28, 2010 in Provo, Utah. The star of NBC's 'Diff'rent Strokes' died today from brain injuries suffered in an unspecified accident at his home in Santaquin, Utah. (Photo by Reagan Frey/Getty Images)
Utah Valley Regional Medical Center

Celebitchy shared the news with me that Shannon Price, the ex-wife of the late Gary Coleman, is on the cover of the Globe this morning, and I must say the photo is very disturbing. She is leaning over Gary on life support in his hospital bed at the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center.

Read moreIf you are sensitive, I caution you not to look at it. The only reason I am discussing it is because human behavior, in and of itself, is fascinating. I would never believe someone would do this, though I know people can be sick and evil. Logically, I know people will do this. Emotionally, I can’t get my brain around it. It’s just hard to grasp people can be this sick. There should be laws against taking this on a variety of levels, if you ask me from taking photos of unconscious people to publishing them (not that I want laws, but this shouldn’t be allowed).

Clearly, something is very wrong with Shannon Price. Everyone sees it. The woman hasn’t acted appropriately one time in the entire ordeal of Gary dying. I have no doubt about it, this is what she wanted and she experienced positive emotions at times, evident by her smiling as she talked about what it was like to take him off of life support.

Shannon Price is starting to remind me of Diane Downs, who is one in a gazillion, thankfully–the sickest of the sick. As sick as this photo is, I hope it is a catalyst to bring about some action and stop her from causing more nightmares!

20/20 Tonight: “My mother was a killer”

Looks fascinating!!

The Families of Those Who Kill

I remember in the early days and weeks after Caylee went missing, people were standing in the street in front of the Anthony home, outraged at the Anthonys. I remember being beside myself that people were lashing out at Casey’s parents.

People, to this day, are still expressing anger and scorn at Cindy, George and Lee Anthony. They have a tremendous dislike for them. I suspect it is partly due to the fact they ultimately blame Casey’s parents for her behavior, but I suspect it is more than that. I think they likely loathe Cindy, George and Lee because they aren’t standing up and saying they think Casey had something to do with Caylee’s murder. It’s as if the Anthonys are denying the obvious, to most people, and that makes people go crazy.

Read moreYet the Anthonys are not alone in their denial, which I believe is a survival mechanism. I suspect many other family members of people who have killed likely do the same thing. I’ve said that here several times.

This week, I came across a news article on the father of Diane Downs, Wesley Frederickson. He is offering a $50,000 reward to any information which leads to the release of his daughter. This just made news in February of this year–25 years after his grandchildren were shot and one was killed.

This case is even more compelling than the Anthony case because Diane Downs was convicted of murder and locked up, whereas Casey hasn’t even gone to trial. More than that, Christie Downs, Diane’s 9-year-old daughter at the time of trial, testified against her own mom, saying that she witnessed her mom shoot her and her siblings, and then turn the gun on her own arm.

Making it all the more unbelievable, Diane Down’s father, 26 years later, is still clinging to the belief his daughter just has to be innocent, and that his grandchildren must have been delusional or lying. He even maintains a website to this day here.

I think Diane’s dad gives a new perspective to how powerful denial can be, and how it is a coping mechanism for survival.

I do not judge nor will I ever judge Diane Down’s father or the Anthonys, because to be in their shoes must be pure and utter hell, if you accept the most plausible of truths that their daughters attempted to kill their grandchildren, that their own flesh and blood knew no normal boundaries of love and compassion and had the ability to kill in cold blood.

Diane Downs Re-enacts Crime

Here is a video of Diane Downs recollecting the crime (in 1983), she says occurred at the hands of a stranger, when her daughter was killed, and her other two children were shot.

Be warned, it’s as chilling as chilling can be. Downs lacks any normal emotions, and actually laughs as she does the re-enactment.

Diane Downs is someone who I could classify as a “negative” person (or as an easy read).
