Friday 20/20 Preview: Looks Interesting

Joran van der Sloot’s ex-girlfriend speaks out about Joran Friday on ABC’s 20/20. Don’t forget to set your DVRs. It’s always fascinating to look into the world of a psychopath, isn’t it? If only we could truly understand…

Stephany Ramirez’ Family Speaks Out

The Ramirez family spoke out to Greta Van Susteren on Fox this week. You can really feel the emotions of the family as they speak. The man who does the majority of the speaking in this interview is very expressive. His face reveals a lot of his emotions, if you watch him. He is a great study for honesty.

Joran van der Sloot’s Confession

CNN: In Session Transcripts of van der Sloot’s confession

Joran van der Sloot’s confession has been released. If anyone sees a translated copy of this, please let me know. I’d be curious to see it in full.

On another note, Dateline NBC covered the Joran van der Sloot case on Friday night. They talked about how Natalee Holloway’s mother’s attorney, John Kelly, went to Aruba to get a the details of where Natalee’s body was in May. That’s when Beth Holloway handed Joran a down payment of $25,000 on his demands to get the information on the location of Natalee Holloway’s body.

Kelly told Dateline that Joran told him he buried Natalee’s body in the foundation of house being built at the time. He even pointed out an exact house. Joran also said that his dad helped him. The confession that Joran made about burying her body in the foundation of the house, however, turn out to be false, because when they investigated, the house was not under construction at that time. However, I do believe Joran’s dad was involved in him helping cover up Natalee’s body. I suspect that is the truth and here is an analysis as to why I believe this.

I also suspect Natalee was dumped off of a boat in the ocean and will never be found. It correlates to Joran’s 2008 confession when he said the following [which was translated], “She’ll never be found. Where exactly [she is], I don’t even know myself.”

Joran is a pathological liar, much like we see with Casey Anthony. He can lie to you while staring you straight in the face and not feel a pang of guilt doing so, which means he is unlikely to yield facial expression clues. However, he will still likely leak clues to his inconsistencies, if we listen to the facts of what he tells us. It’s chilling, but usually liars like this leave clues to what the real truth is, if we listen close enough.

Joran van der Sloot in Tac Hotel Hallway

“El Comercio,” a Peruvian newspaper, has a video (thanks, Jade!) of Joran in the hallway of the Tac Hotel the day Stephany Flores was believed to be murdered at 8:35 am. The narrator speaks in Spanish, however, but it is still interesting to watch his behavior. The headline for the story in the paper translate to something like, “The Dutch citizen wanted to cover up his crime with a trick that involved the TAC hotel staff.” You can see the translated article here.

Joran comes out of the room with two cups of coffee in his hand, and appears to check the door a couple of times immediately after exiting the room to make sure the door is locked. Then watch Joran act like he is knocking at the door, though he never touches it. He then looks around and pulls hard on the door again, as if to check that is it in fact locked. He never acts as if he is surprised or mad, like you would expect, if he locked himself out of the room by accident.

Watch as he continues to fake knocks again and looks around only to check the door again. Joran finally leaves and at one point, and we can see him look straight into the security camera, which tells us he knew it was there. Perhaps he thought it would be grainy and not clear? If so, he underestimated it, didn’t he?

After two minutes, Joran appears once more, and this time he has the hotel staff let him in the room. She doesn’t appear to even look in the room and then Joran enters.

By the article title, I suspect they believe Joran was contemplating pulling some shenanigans and perhaps hoping to have the staff discover Stephany’s body, but he decided against it, perhaps when she didn’t discover Flores.

It’s fascinating to see inside the mind of a liar, isn’t it? And yet very creepy!!

I’ve written extensively on Joran van der Sloot. In the search box to the right, type in his name to see all of my posts come up in Google.

Stephany apparently had no fear of strangers. From the looks of it, she walks right up to Joran van der Sloot, introduces herself and sits down. She was also very trusting to go back to his hotel room so quickly. There are reasons our parents tell us to be wary of strangers…
