What does the ideal man looking like around the globe?

An online doctor website did an interesting study. They sent graphic designers around the world a photo of a man, and asked them to mold him into the “perfect person” that would be found attractive in their respective societies.  It’s quite fascinating to see how culture, and society define beauty quite differently.  This experiment really shows it off.

Take a look.

What thoughts do you have when you see this?

Here is the female version of the study.

It seems to be culturally accurate. I had never completely run the thought through my mind (if that makes any sense) until about ten years ago. I should be so lucky, right? The thought being: What is the ideal body type for a guy (American)? I know that may sound like horse manure as I’ve obviously been to the gym and have had thoughts on how I’d like to look, but up until I did, I never thought what would be “perfection”. This may also be a testemant as to why I’ve struggled with my weight–not having a clear picture of what I want in my mind. Regardless, when I did think about it, I asked someone’s thoughts who did not hesitate. They said the “superhero body”. Like what Captain America, Superman, or Batman look like in their underwear. I reflected on it for a moment, and was like, “Yeah, I guess it is,” and that’s exactly what’s in this study. Russia meets my cliche view too. Very Putin.

I know it’s clichéd, but I think people are the most beautiful when you’ve met them and get to know them. Beauty and pretty are two different things.

It’s funny that’s for sure. But one designer per country could show their personal bias. I find the male one weird, although understandable. The female one makes me laugh, because a couple of them are like stick figures! In my own mind I find I can construct an ideal version of the male (likely programmed in by what I’ve seen and imagine is desirable) but not so much the female.
