Another Cosby Accuser Who I Believe

Another accuser came forward on the Dr. Phil show named “Lisa” this week. Her story is consistent with the other stories we have heard, her words flow and she gives us no reason to believe she is telling us anything but the truth.

I have been flabbergasted by the people who think these women are simply lying. To get 20 strangers to come up with a “story” like this is unheard of–especially since they don’t even know each other. It may happen with one or two, but not 20. And furthermore, most liars lie because there is incentive or motive to do so. They will gain something, and right now it doesn’t appear that these women have anything to gain.  The statute of limitations has run out.

What I found most appalling, however, in this case is that some people feel no one should accuse Cosby of anything unless they go to court, because as they seem to feel that Cosby is just a sitting duck with no rights. These people seem to believe that anyone can ruin someone’s reputation and there is nothing they can do about it. And that’s flat out UNTRUE!

Cosby has every right to get justice in the courts! If he feels that these women are slandering him, then he has every right to go after them for justice to clear his name, but as you can see, he doesn’t dare tempt that with a ten foot pole. Oh no, he knows what will happen if he does. He will give them the right to counter sue and expose him even faster, so the lack of a response from Cosby cements his guilt even more, if you ask me. And we all know Cosby has the money to sue, but he is also keenly aware that powerhouse attorney Gloria Allred is willing and able to step up and match him dollar for dollar to get the justice these victims deserve!

Hannah Overton’s Conviction Overturned!!

I am so thrilled to learn that Hannah Overton’s conviction has been overturned. This poor woman and her family suffered from Hannah being wrongly convicted.

Back in October of 2008, I watched her story on 20/20 and immediately trusted her despite a handful of clues that made people look at her. You can read my post here.

And now this week, seven years later, Hannah was finally freed!

This is the best news ever!!

It feels so good to see the truth prevail!!

Let’s just pray that they do not bring further charges again.

So happy for Hannah and her family!

Serial Podcast

Many of you have told me about the Serial podcast and how riveting it is, and that you’d like my opinion. I typically don’t look at older cases unless I can hear the suspect speak prior to or during trial. The reason is once someone has been convicted of a crime, the pressure on them diminishes and the clues to deception will also diminish or completely cease.

I have had a busy month and I haven’t had time to even open the podcast so I have a few questions.

Does the podcast have interviews from prior to or during the trial of the key people? That is most essential for me.

If there are, please point me to the podcasts that contain these interviews (with time markers please) and I will see if I can fit it into my schedule.

I am not one who likes to listen to others tell the story because their bias and opinions can skew the truth. I rely 100% on the actual people who are being looked at to the get the truth. They are most reliable source we have.

Janay Rice and Camille Cosby

Janay Rice spoke out for the first time since she was knocked out by her NFL football player husband, Ray Rice, earlier this year.

It’s very painful to see Janay talk in complete denial–protecting Ray, and showing anger toward the public and the media for airing their story. She is clearly putting the blame in the wrong place, and unconditionally accepting her husband.

Ray’s callous and cold behavior is not “shock” or disbelief when he is shown on video ignoring Janay who is passed out cold on the floor. The video shows a pompous, arrogant man who has no regard for what he had just done to his wife.

This does not bode well for their relationship or future, and I have fear for Janay’s well being if she stays with Ray as she seems to be currently doing.

Many people have asked me about Camille Cosby’s behavior in the wake of the Cosby situation, too.

People wonder why these women stay so loyal to a man in such dark situations.

For the average person, walking away from your life amidst difficulties is hard. You have to literally start your life over. That by itself is scares a lot people into denial and causes them to blindly and often dangerously try again, and again, or turn their back on problems in hopes they will go away.

Now add that these two women are married to men who have earned substantial amounts of money, albeit different for each man, but walking away from a well-to-do lifestyle is even harder. Imagine going from a lovely home, staff that cares for you, and a top quality life and walking out into a bleak cold world where you have no way to maintain your lifestyle.

Furthermore, these men are strong dominant men, and typically these types marry subservient women who cater to their husband’s celebrity and fame, and are not used to being the dominant and defiant one. They are not used to being the one in charge, making decisions and controlling their future. They are not comfortable executing big changes, and so they often go into denial.

It’s not pretty to watch, but is part of the human spirit to want to keep what is good and push away what is bad at all costs.

So even if these two women have ideas that thing aren’t right, it’s much easier in the “short term” to turn their backs than to deal with these situations. Life appears to be, at least temporarily, more comfortable right now staying put and pushing away the problems.

The reality is in the long run it will be that much harder, but they don’t have the foresight to see it nor do they want to.
