Somer Thompson’s Killer Confesses: Gets Life

Somer Thompson disappeared in October 2009 and her body was found not long after in a landfill.  Somer’s mother, Diena Thompson, made many media appearances in her quest to get justice for her daughter.

In all honesty, and as shown on my blog, I found Diena Thompson’s behavior odd and I without question, did not believe Diena Thompson.

I have stated repeatedly in my blog while I do not believe someone, it does not believe that I am accusing them of murder.  While I can see lies with high accuracy, I never know why the lie is being told or what is being covered up.

I have always been suspicious that Diena knew more about what happened the day Somer disappeared than she was letting on, but so far, nothing has come to light to show otherwise, so at this point, I feel that I must admit I was wrong.

I misread Diena Thompson and I apologize publicly to her and anyone for my lack of trust. I try hard to understand people, but inevitably, I will fail.  I am human.

Today, Jarred Harrell, the man police arrested months after Somer’s murder, has plead guilty to killing Somer.  He was sentenced to life in prison.

From News4Jax.com, “Harrell admitted that he confined Somer, sexually assaulted her, lewdly touched her in private areas and strangled her. He admitted that he then put her body in a container and then put the container in a Dumpster.”

I apologize…truly.

Diena Remembers Year Anniversary

Seeker found a video of Diena Thompson that is absolutely mind-blowing to me.

In the video link below (click on the picture to to go News13’s video), when you watch Diena, it is flat out flabbergasting. Here is a mom, recounting the day her daughter vanished (and was later found murdered), and all we see is radiance.

What makes this woman feel so radiant when recalling what is should be hands-down the most horrific day in her life? I hate to say it, but she has an eerie reminiscence to Diane Downs here.

Diena says, “All the people, all the cops, all the lights, cameras, it feels just like that day again, only this time I knew it was going to happen, and I still couldn’t stop it.”

Still couldn’t stop it?” What???? Does that even make sense?

Where is this mother’s grief? It’s flat out missing!

Things are very troubling with this case and it continues to haunt me. To read my original thoughts on Diena, click here.

Jarred Harrell Arrested for Murder

Jarred Harrell was arrested for the murder of Somer Thompson today. I just want to acknowledge that I see this as I have stated in the past that I did not trust Diena Thompson. I will be curious to see this case unfold, though, I am open to considering that I may be wrong. I never stated that I thought Diena killed her daughter. I’ve just always suspected she knew more than she was telling us.

Please know that I will wait for evidence to be revealed in this case that is sufficient, or for this case to go to court before I categorize this. I do this for all cases, and this one is no exception.

State’s Attorney on Jarred Harrell

I thought this was interesting from WOKV.com.

State Attorney Angela Corey can’t say much about where the investigation is at, but she says his status might not change anytime soon. “There is not a timeline on how long someone can remain a person of interest,” said Corey. Corey is in regular communication with Clay County Sheriff Rick Beesler…

Sam Thompson

Here is Somer Thompson’s dad talking about Somer, and his thoughts about Jarred Harrell…

His pain is so palpable. Its genuine and real. My heart goes out to him.
