Reeva Steenkamp feared Oscar Pistorius

March 24, 2014/40 Comments/in murder/by Eyes for Lies

Did you read the latest news? Reeva texted Oscar: “I’m scared of you sometimes and how you snap at me and how you will act towards me.”

She also texted the week before her murder: “I can’t be attacked by outsiders for dating you, and by you.”

I didn’t believe Oscar Pistorius from day one when he released his statement to the media. It clearly told us what the truth was then when we analyzed it. Now, with the trial, we get the facts to support what we saw.

Fascinating, isn’t it? And yet so very tragic.

The Body Language of Dogs

March 21, 2014/18 Comments/in animals, body language/by Eyes for Lies

Many people are surprised when they hear me analyze the body language of dog or other animal in my presence.  Being astute to human behavior, I am keenly aware of animal behavior as well.

All animals communicate information.  Humans are certainly not an exception and movements by all species reveal key information, if we pay attention.

If you watch an unfamiliar dog walking down the road, his or her body language will convey if the dog is happy and feeling safe, or if they are in a bad situation.   Those of you who have pets and pay close attention will know a lot of what I am saying, if you’ve given it some thought.

The biggest indicators of happiness and confidence are seen in the tail and ears.  A tail is actually like a barometer for a dog.  The higher up it is (when it is natural for a dog to be held upward), say perched on its back, is a strong indication of confidence and happiness.  A dog that feels threatened or unsafe will drop his tail, hang it low or in the worst of situations will put it between it’s legs.

A happy dog will also have its ears attentive and forward–listening and engaged, whereas a dog under the command of a controlling or dominant person will typically have not only their tail down but their ears too. And their ears may move around frequently, constantly assessing the situation because they feel insecure.

Happy dogs will often bounce in their gate.  You may even call it a gallop. Whereas an insecure dog will walk with hesitation, may show tension, or an extremely sloppy, hunched over (“I’ve given up”) gait. They may show fear and concern, and may constantly look to their owner to please them and for reassurance.

You must always consider if the dog is sick or convalescing, and in that case, I give a glance to the owner.  Is the leash taunt and tight and is there an unnecessary tension in the owner’s body language?  That doesn’t support sickness. If, instead, I see an owner who is relaxed and casual and carefree, that could support a dog is not in good health.

I have actually raised a very insecure dog who I believe lost trust of humans.  She always hung her tail down.  I used to pet her, talk reassuringly to her and in the process I’d scoop up her sagging tail and say “Tail up!” in a very upbeat happy voice.     When her tail was in that position, you could see a natural boost of confidence come over her.   And while at first, she didn’t keep it up, over time she slowly would build confidence when the tail went up.  I continued to teach her–signaling to her that all was good–we were safe when I said “Tail up.”   You can never force an animal to do anything, but with encouragement you can even build confidence in a dog using their own natural body language signals.

Facial Analysis of Malaysia Pilots

March 19, 2014/159 Comments/in demeanor, Emotions, personality/by Eyes for Lies

When I look at these two pilots, their faces automatically communicate information to me.  Science has been studying this and call it “personality identification at zero acquaintance.”  I call it facial profiling.

When I look at Capt Zaharie Ahmad Shah, the second man in the grouping above, I see very warm features in his face.  His nose, lips and cheeks support a very kind and compassionate person.  I believe the captain was very well liked by people.  He had a soft, gentle nature about him in his daily life.  He was likely superb around children, too. He was a caring individual.  People trusted him without question.  He was always respectful of others as well.

I also see a very intelligent man–one who had above average intelligence.  He likely was known as someone who was very smart.   And yet at the same time, I see a slight deviant side to his personality–a side that makes me pause slightly.  I have hesitation to trust him completely.   And ironically, I don’t see this side of him in all of his photos, but is clearly there, which means he could have fooled people. People may not have seen it either.

In the limited photos we see of him on the internet, he also expresses contempt multiple times, which is notable. Both the deviant look in some of the photos, and this expression give me pause and concern, though by themselves do not mean anything conclusive.  They just show a potential for behavior that one must consider.  No one can ever conclusively predict behavior. We can only say one has a higher propensity for certain behaviors.

When I read that the captain’s wife and children left him the day before the flight — that concerns me on multiple levels.  I’d be curious to know why.

  1. Did his wife know something about him that she didn’t approve of (maybe have knowledge of something that was going to take place)?
  2. Was she seeing an unstable side to his personality (mental illness)?  Mental illness doesn’t always present in photographs unless it is advanced.
  3. Did she leave him for another man or relationship that devastated him?

These are important factors to identify when determining potential propensities for actions that one might take.

People who are highly compassionate have a higher propensity to commit suicide as well–so we must consider that.

Could the captain have committed suicide by taking the plane down?  Could he have been so desperately upset that his wife left him, that he veered off course in deep emotional distress in contemplation of suicide and then dove the plane straight down?

Did he struggle for hours about it?

Did he lock the co-pilot out of the cockpit?  All are plausible with a compassionate person under life’s stressful situations.

Or did his devious side come out and plan something sinister out of anger or feelings of rejection, or something else? Was his rejection by his wife instantaneous or building over time?

When I look at the co-pilot, Fariq Abdul Hamid, I see a very honest, straight-shooter personality.  What you see is what you get. He is polite, respectful, and is one to follow the rules. He takes the world at face value, whereas the pilot was a deep thinker and contemplated many things. The pilot was one to think outside the box. The co-pilot, however, hummed  along in life much more lightly. He is much more easy going, accepting of life as it was, and his circumstances.  The co-pilot’s mantra was like, “Things are what they are–don’t fret over them.” He wasn’t one to dwell on issues. He was one to quickly recover from adversity and moved on to life’s next adventure.

It’s also possible the plane was taken over by terrorists, or the plane had a catastrophic failure. I am open to all potentials.  I’ve flown enough flights to know that when a pilot takes a flight, he, like everyone else, has to use the bathroom and in that moment, all planes are vulnerable to attack and infiltration into the cockpit by sinister people.

Latest Developments on Robert Fischer

March 18, 2014/6 Comments/in murder/by Eyes for Lies

Remember the story of Lee Radder on Dateline back in January? Lee Radder’s wife, Belinda, and Robert Fischer, her step-father, talked to Dateline about what happened the night Lee Radder, Belinda’s husband, was killed. We got to see them tell the story of what happened.

Sadly, Robert Fischer leaked solid clues that he wasn’t being forthright with us, so I am surprised that an Arizona judge set Fischer free and over-turned his conviction.

But I will say that I am much more troubled by the behaviors of Belinda Radder. She clearly needs to be investigated and investigated closely. I don’t trust her one inch.  I don’t believe a word she has told us to date.

I hope the truth comes out and all people involved are held accountable for the murder of Lee Radder.
